Holiday Home Built On A Narrow Plot In Singapore
When this whole project started, the site and the vast area around it were all empty. However, the great location meant that the situation would soon change and neighboring residence would start appearing everywhere. So the architects were prepared to make the house suitable for such an environment from the start.
Wallflower Architecture + Design decided to build a thick 9 meter loftier wall that wraps effectually the house to shelter it from the neighboring houses and to offer it privacy. This wall likewise forms the entrance facade which also has the role to insulate the interior and to protect it from the elements.
The enclosing wall is divided into freestanding segments. These segments help to filter the natural lite and to allow breezes to pass through and into the business firm. In addition, the wall and the roof do not intersect. They are parallel to each and there's a meter wide gap between them.
This gap allows sunlight to reach the greenery on either side of the wall and this the bulwark between interior and outside becomes softer and more difficult to distinguish. Some other feature that connects the residence to the exterior and the views is represented by the full height windows and glass walls.
